Historical Society member and volunteer Carolyn Janssen Wagner (1934-2014) lived in Manchester most of her
life. She spoke about the table (pictured below) with pride she owned it for many years. She was sure the
table came from a Cheney mansion. She had seen another just like it when touring one of the mansions and was
sure that they were a pair. Upon her death, her family donated the table to the Historical Society, as was Mrs.
Wagner's wish.
Carolyn's April 2014 obituary says, "She attended Manchester High School and had been active with the Round
Table Singers and other groups. She loved the arts, especially singing and drawing. She was a volunteer with the
Manchester Bicentennial Band Shell, which she enjoyed so much and was a big part of her life. She was a
Christian Scientist and had helped out at her church. Prior to her retirement, she had worked at Watkins
Brothers Furniture Store and Fuss & O'Neill."
